His professional experience has included the management of a variety of prestigious sustainability developments, such as the North Yas Masterplan on Yas Island, the Bahrain Affordable Housing Project, the Bluewaters Residential project in Dubai and the Irena HQ project in Masdar City.

Richard is currently the Head of Infrastructure Advisory and PPP’s for KPMG across the Middle East and South Asia. He has spent over 20 years advising Governments on commercial arrangements and has significant experience in preparing and managing public companies through the sale & investment process.

Richard first worked on PPP’s in 2001 and is an expert in identifying where and how public operations can become private entities. His PPP experience includes Rail, Aviation, Government Laboratories, Defence companies, Metrology and Nuclear Power.

Robert leads RICS’ Middle East and North Africa (MENA) team, who oversee 2,000 members in the UAE and almost 4,000 in the region, working in land, property and construction. A key component of Rob’s role is to work alongside governments, regulators, financial institutions and major influencers across the region to improve regulation and drive progression and evolution of professional standards as the MENA markets continue to grow and mature. 

Robert has more than 20 years of experience in the Middle East working at senior management and international board level as well as an independent business consultant.

Dr. Ghassan leads Megaprojects for McKinsey’s Capital Project and Infrastructure practice in the Middle East. Before joining McKinsey, Ghassan served as regional director for infrastructure major projects at Atkins, where he helped establish and rapidly expand the Middle East infrastructure consultancy division.

He was previously with Benaim (now part of AECOM), where he served as a partner and regional managing director. He has chaired the UK Trade and Investment’s UK-UAE infrastructure working group and he currently serves on the industry advisory board for Abu Dhabi University.

Mr. Paul began his career in the construction industry 27 years ago. A 1992 civil and structural engineering graduate from Leeds Metropolitan University, he spent many years working as a structural draughtsman and project engineer. An industry expert with hands on field knowledge, he was one of the early adopters of 3D structural modeling. Paul subsequently transitioned to the software construction business where he has remained since. With his excellent knowledge of enterprise, ERP and BIM technology solutions, Paul has spent the last 19 years in the UK, Far East, USA and now the Middle East providing support, training, consulting and management thus enabling commercial engineering, offshore EPC companies, fabricators and contractors to successfully adopt BIM. Paul is based in Dubai and leads as the Area Business Director for UAE operations.

Australian-born Nathan has more than 20 years’ experience working in the construction industry and is a highly respected member of the local engineering community. Nathan completed an electrical apprenticeship with BHP Australia before moving into Building Services Engineering in the UK. In 2007. Nathan relocated to the UAE with international consulting firm Scott Wilson to build a regional MEP team which he successfully managed as Head of MEP until 2012 when the opportunity arose to join Godwin Austen Johnson and build an in house MEP capability for the award-winning firm.As the Commercial and Operations Director, Nathan is tasked with evaluating new projects, overseeing contractual negotiations and managing potential opportunities

Dwayne graduated as a Surveyor from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2001. Since then he has worked in a variety of roles in the construction industry in New Zealand, Australia and the UK developing machine control systems, tunnel surveying, machine control installation and in-field support and finally sales based roles. The main theme that has predominantly occurred is on improving productivity through machine control and now software solutions.

Ben Piper is a Principal and Partner with Killa Design with 18 years of professional experience in architecture (11 years in UAE). He is an experienced leader with an excellent ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of building projects. He has held senior roles in a variety of global practices including Gensler, Halcrow, Atkins, Perkins+Will and Killa Design in designing hotel, residential and mixed-use developments in the Middle East, India, China, US and the UK.

He has reported exclusively on a wide range of projects across the region including schemes such as Dubai Metro, the Burj Khalifa, Jeddah Airport, Doha Metro, Hamad International Airport, and Yas Island. Before joining MEED, Colin reported on the construction sector in the Middle East and Hong Kong. He has a bachelor’s degree from Newcastle University and a master’s degree from the University of Reading.

Adeen is an Architect who has worked with some the Middle East’s leading practices. He received his B.Sc. in Architecture, with a focus on Technology & Design, from the German Jordanian University and HFT Stuttgart.Throughout his career, he has acquired diverse skills in advanced BIM strategies, using different methods to optimize workflows and increase efficiency of projects. Through his broad understanding of BIM and effective use of tools and techniques, he adds value to his projects with creative work methods. Adeen’s portfolio includes some of the largest projects in the region.

Nithin is an engineering professional with over 10 years of experience in Middle East construction Industry. He has completed his MSc in Construction Project Management from Heriot Watt University. He has over 8 peer reviewed publications and his field of interest for research includes BIM, Lean Construction and IPD Projects. He is currently working for Shapoorji Pallonji as a BIM Manager. He is currently responsible for delivery of BIM projects in U.A.E, Oman and Malta.

Ramy Boufarhat is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of JLW Middle East operation; which is turning over in excess of USD 180 M, 2000 direct employees and managing 6000. A master’s qualified engineer with experience in the building services industry as both a design consultant and a contractor in both Australia and the UAE.

From 2009 – 2012, Ramy held the position of Engineering Manager for JLW and played a vital role in establishing one of JLWs core strategic competencies, it engineering excellence. During the time the team grew and the organization moved away from the traditional engineering approach to a centralized, integrated one with key engineering processes implemented on all projects throughout their life‐cycle.

Since late 2012, Ramy has held the post of company Chief Operating Officer (COO) and oversees all ongoing business operations. Ramy played an integral part in orchestrating the restructure of the company during a successful growth period from 2013 to 2017 (the number of employees had increased by approximately 400%, and the turnover of the company increased by more than 250%) and now ensures growth is maintained.

Alan has over seven years' experience advising public and private sector clients in respect of major construction, infrastructure and real estate projects. He has acted on projects based in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and the United Kingdom. Alan has been based in the Middle East since 2011 advising clients on both front and back end construction related matters. His experience includes advising on procurement options for complex projects, often involving a multiplicity of parties, contract negotiations and advice, and advising clients on and guiding them through dispute resolution.

Alan advises on all types of construction-related claims, including extensions of time and associated costs claims, delay and variation claims and bond demands. He has represented clients in adjudication and international arbitration and also has experience advising clients in respect of court matters in the Middle East.

Chris is a chartered civil engineer with over ten years' experience working as project, information and design manager for projects using BIM within built environment and transportation sectors including for multi-discipline projects at all life-cycle stages of a scheme.
Currently a Principal Engineer/Consultant with Mott MacDonald, based in Dubai, as the BIM Practice Leader for the Middle East Unit as well as having the responsibility for leading Mott MacDonald's external BIM Consultancy projects with asset owner and operators within the region. Mohammed Abusharkh has more than 13 years of experience working in highly prestigious international companies in GCC, Middle East and Europe. Highly experienced in construction gained from working/operating in several mega projects including High Rise Towers, Malls, Hospitals, Dams, Metro and Highway.

Currently, he is a Technical Engineering Manager at CCC for Structural & Geomatics Engineering. He is a Structural Engineer graduated from IUG University in Palestine in 2004, and finished his M.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering in 2014 from Stuttgart University in Germany with Honor. He has been nominated as a City Representative (2012-2013) in the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.

Mr. Abusharkh is a consultant of several Geomatics implementation & development within CCC, including BIM, Drones & Photogrammetry Applications for Civil and Infrastructure Projects for Surveying and Engineering activities. He is involved in Automated Machine Control System for Road Construction for Earthwork activities. Moreover, He is in charge of Structural Health Monitoring System for High Rise Towers for All CCC projects.
